4.
Rmic Task

 5.

 6.

 7.
Rmic

 8.
Description

 9.
Runs the rmic compiler for a certain class.

 10.
Rmic can be run on a single class (as specified with the classname
 11. attribute) or a number of classes at once (all classes below base that
 12. are neither _Stub nor _Skel classes). If you want to rmic a single
 13. class and this class is a class nested into another class, you have to
 14. specify the classname in the form
Outer$$Inner
instead of
 15.
Outer.Inner
.

 16.
It is possible to refine the set of files that are being rmiced. This can be
 17. done with the includes, includesfile, excludes, excludesfile and defaultexcludes
 18. attributes. With the includes or includesfile attribute you specify the files you want to
 19. have included by using patterns. The exclude or excludesfile attribute is used to specify
 20. the files you want to have excluded. This is also done with patterns. And
 21. finally with the defaultexcludes attribute, you can specify whether you
 22. want to use default exclusions or not. See the section on <a
 23. href="../dirtasks.html#directorybasedtasks">directory based tasks, on how the
 24. inclusion/exclusion of files works, and how to write patterns.

 25.
This task forms an implicit FileSet and
 26. supports all attributes of
<fileset>

 27. (
dir
becomes
base
) as well as the nested
 28.
<include>
,
<exclude>
and
 29.
<patternset>
elements.

 30.
It is possible to use different compilers. This can be selected
 31. with the "build.rmic" property or the
compiler

 32. attribute.
 33. Here are the choices:

 34.

 35.
default -the default compiler (kaffe or sun) for the platform.
 36.
sun (the standard compiler of the JDK)

 37.
kaffe (the standard compiler of Kaffe)

 38.
weblogic

 39.
forking - the sun compiler forked into a separate process

 40.
"" (empty string). This has the same behaviour as not setting the compiler attribute.
 41. First the value of build.rmic is used if defined, and if not, the default
 42. for the platform is chosen. If build.rmic is set to this, you get the default.
 43.

 44.
The miniRMI
 45. project contains a compiler implementation for this task as well,
 46. please consult miniRMI's documentation to learn how to use it.
